Pressing In With The Pages

A friend recently posted this quote on Facebook:

"There are dimensions of God that will never be revealed to the casual, disinterested worshiper." Jentezen Franklin

(Thanks Amber)

I can identify with this quote. This week has been "one of those weeks" and I have been desperately pressing into God accessing those dimensions.

Another Facebook friend shared this thought:

"I wonder if people realize that dying to oneself means actually putting God's desires for your life ahead of your own."

(Thanks D.J. Wade-O)

So the following are three of the songs that have burned within me the past two days. They so express my heart's desire that I thought I'd share them with you.

I Wanna Be Yours - Fred Hammond

Verse 1:
Before the world was made you knew me.
Before I knew my name, you called.
Reaching out for you with loving arms, telling me that I am yours.
Sometimes turning away from you.
But, your love still remains faithful and true.
What can I give in return for all you've done for me?

Verse 2:
Before I was born, you knew me.
Called me to your arms of love.
Born into sin deserving death, but life is what you gave to me.
Sometimes turning my back from you.
But, your love still remains faithful and true.
What can I give in return for all you've done for me?

Bridge:
Oh Lord you made me and you knew me.
From the beginning you held my heart you held me close so I won't resist you
But as you intended, I wanna be yours

(Repeat bridge until end)

I love the way he says "close" in the second to the last line!

You Called Me Friend - Fred Hammond

VERSE 1

Perfect and true
Pure in all your ways
O Lord, there is none else like you, no one like you
And all these things keep me in awe of you
For I'm overwhelmed that you would call me friend

What is man that thou art mindful of him?
Could an awesome God find common ground within?
Just to know that you delight to be with me
Fills my heart, with so much joy

VERSE 2 (Solo)

Ruler of everything
You are creator, Lord and King
Willingly you have taken my debt as your own
I would gladly give all to be a servant or a slave
For I'm overwhelmed that you would call me friend

CHORUS

BACK TO VERSE 1 WITH HARMONIES

Before Israel Houghton declared that he was a Friend Of God, Fred sang "You Called Me Friend". I too, am overwhelmed that God would call me friend.

You Are My Song - Fred Hammond

Lord i want to bless your name today
because you're so good and you're so kind,
I just have to say this one thing

You are my symphony yeahhhhhh
perfect in harmony yeahhh
You are hehhheehhh
You are my melody (forever) forever (oh yeah)
that's why I sing (that's why I sing You are my song)
You are my symphony)
You are my symphony (somebody needs to lift their hands
and just say oh lord you are perfect in harmony)
perfect in harmony (You are in my life with your word and you are yeah yeah yeah)
You are my melody forever (thats why I sing oh let me tell you)

Lord no other song
no other song compares to You
no other praise
no other praise strong as You
Your spirit
Your spirit speaks to my soul
that's why I sing
Lord you are my song

You're the tone of power
in the key of honor
filled with glory
Lord you are my song
For you endless mercy and your loving kindness pull my heart strings daily
Lord, You are you are you are my song lord
Lord you are my song
You're my symphony in harmony you are
Lord you are my song
for your gratefulness is my homeness of the mercy
lord you are my song

Halleuhah Halleuhah

I love the metaphors used in this song! "Your loving kindness pull my heartstrings daily!?!?!?" That's just too hot!

"You are the tone of poweer in the key of honor!?!?!?" Now, that's fire!

Talk about moving - this song definitely is.

If you are a late-adopter or if this is just before your time, do yourself a favor and get the CD. You will definitely be blessed.

This is a classic!
